Coral reef restoration in Bali

This programme fee covers accommodation beginning the Sunday before the programme starts until the final Sunday morning. Meals are also provided from the Sunday evening on arrival, though meals are not provided on days off unless requested at an extra expense. Bottled drinking water is available at the accommodation and is included as part of the programme fee.

All scuba equipment is also provided for dives scheduled as part of our programme, but any equipment rental for fun dives will come at an extra cost.

We offer pick-ups from anywhere on the island on Sunday afternoons as part of the programme fee, so all you need to do is let us know where you will be.

The following is not included in your reef restoration programme fee:

– Flights in and out of Indonesia

– Travel / Medical insurance

– Visa costs

– Transport out after your programme

– Personal expenses

For staying here on days off you should budget around 100k rupiah (~£5-6) per day which will likely cover all meals. You will obviously need to budget more for travelling on days off but that really depends on your own personal budget. A simple two-day trip may come to around 1 million (~£55) though it really depends – including diving can make it much more expensive.

Payment Terms

To secure your placement on the project, you will need to complete and submit the application form with your application payment of £195 (included in the total project costs listed above).

If for some reason your application is not accepted, we will reimburse this payment fully. However, for those who are accepted, 25% of the balance amount needs to be paid within 7 days of being confirmed on the programme,  with the remainder (75%) to be paid 2 months before your arrival to the project.

Once we have confirmed your place, you will receive an information package on the project background, your role within the reef restoration programme, the conservation activities you will do, suggested items to bring, how to travel there and so on.

Project Dates

Our coral reef restoration programme is open throughout the dry season in this part of Bali. We start each year from the first week in January and run until the second week in December. The rainy season here starts towards the end of December and usually finishes in February.

In Bali, generally, we get the best diving conditions from April-May and then from September-November. With that being said, we will be diving from January to December as often as the weather permits. Please check our availability below to see what dates are available.

Our coral reef restoration programme has a minimum stay of one week and a maximum of eight weeks. Indonesia’s Visa On Arrival (VOA) system is available for most nationalities and allows travellers to stay for a maximum of 60 days. Longer stays are possible but require a specific visa, please contact us for more information.

Our first coral reef restoration programme activities start on the Monday mornings. Participants should aim to arrive on the Sunday afternoon beforehand. The final activities are on the Thursday afternoon. Generally, participants leave on Friday mornings, although you are also welcome to stay on days off.
