Project Costs

Elephants eating pumpkinsThe cost to join for the 3 night/4 day programme is 420 GBP pounds (£295 for a child/uni student under 21 yrs).

If you are a group of 6 people or more for the 6 night/7 day programme, the cost is 530 GBP per person (£440 per child).

Your payment covers all your food, bottled water and accommodation during the project, pick up and drop off in Chiang Mai, project training and supervision and WorkingAbroad Projects backup and placement support.

Your airfare to and from Thailand, travel/medical insurance and personal expenses are not included within this price. It is mandatory for you to take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of your project.

Payment Terms

To secure your placement on the project, you will need to complete and submit the application form with your application payment of £180 (included in the total project costs listed above). If for some reason your application is not accepted, we will reimburse this payment fully. However, for those who are accepted, you will be required to pay the remaining balance 2 months before arrival. Once we have confirmed your place, you will receive an information package on the project background, your role as a volunteer, the work you will do, suggested items to bring, how to travel there and so on.

Project Dates

Elephant walking in the river Chiang MaiPlease note that the dates listed below are flexible, you can join the project starting on any Thursday and leaving on any Sunday throughout the year for the 3 night/ 4-day programmes.

30 days is the maximum length tourists can stay in Thailand on a visa waiver, so if you are coming for over 4 weeks you will need to extend your visa in the country. Or you can obtain a 60-day double-entry tourist visa in advance of your arrival. Pick up from Chiang Mai to transfer to the project is on Monday mornings at 8.30AM, and drop off is on Sunday evening 2-3pm or 7-8pm (depending if there are overnighters needing to be dropped off).

We can also accept families with children (aged 6+ for the overnight programme and 10+ for all other durations) – please email us if you are interested.
