Wildlife Rescue & Rehab Internship Programme, Costa Rica

I had a great time!  Everyone working there was so incredibly nice while I was there. They care so much about the animals and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to have the time to go there again. I genuinely don’t think there’s a single negative thing that I could say about my experience.

“I had a fantastic experience volunteering at the wildlife rescue centre in Costa Rica. The centre is beautifully immersed with surrounding nature, and everyone involved is passionate about the well-being of the animals in their care. The work focuses on animal welfare, conservation and educating visitors about the dangers of animal trafficking. Everyone is a pleasure to work with, and the environment is always light while still working hard. I enjoyed learning about how the animals’ behaviour is monitored to provide them with the best enrichment and lives in captivity. I would love another opportunity to volunteer at this project in the future.”

I had an amazing 4 weeks working at the sanctuary. With so many different animals coming into the rescue centre and all of the resident animals in the lifetime care sanctuary, we were kept very busy. The focus is very much on animal welfare and I learnt so much about animal psychology and natural behaviours.

The intern manager was with us all of the time and is involved in all of the tasks and it was so satisfying to see animals come into the rescue centre and then to watch them return to the wild at one of the release sites.

I was not expecting the organisation to be so big and have such a diversity of animals and given the chance I would go back in a heartbeat.
