Project Costs

The project costs for 2025 dates are as follows; 1 week is £655, 2 weeks is £1090, 3 weeks is £1440, 4 weeks is £1760, 5 weeks is £2030. For other durations, please email info@workingabroad.com if you have any questions on the costs. Please note that we recommend you join for at least 2 weeks and ideally longer to get the full experience. **Pls note that for 2026, the price will increase, pls ask for more details**

This cost includes accommodation within the volunteer house (and use of the pool, BBQ etc.), breakfast & lunch each day, weekly transport to grocery shops, transfers to and from Cape Town airport for arrival and departure, all on-site volunteer activities and supervision, WorkingAbroad backup and support. What is not included is your flights and travel to and from South Africa, dinnertime meals, visa costs, lodging in Cape Town on arrival and departure if required, personal expenses, and your own health and travel insurance.

Payment Terms

To secure your placement on the project, you will need to complete and submit the application form with your application payment of £195 (included in the total project costs listed above). If for some reason your application is not accepted, we will reimburse this payment fully. However, for those who are accepted, the remaining balance needs to be paid at least two months before departure. Once your place is confirmed, you will receive a pre-departure package with detailed information on your project and the volunteer work you will be doing, travel info, suggested items to bring etc.

Project Dates

You can join this big cat conservation project in South Africa as a volunteer for 1 week up to 12 weeks, all year round.

Start dates are on Saturdays and departure dates are on a following Saturday – this enables us to plan better for you and your fellow volunteers, and we will always pick you up from the airport on arrival.

The dates below are the preferred start dates so that everyone joins together as a big cat volunteer project in South Africa starting on every other Saturday throughout the year. Please email info@workingabroad.com if you have specific questions about dates or travel.
