Desert Elephants Volunteer Project, Namibia

Project Costs

The cost to join for the 2 weeks cost is £1010, 4 weeks is £1765.  Please ask for longer durations.

The family volunteering costs is £1090 per adult and £945 per child for 2026 and for 2027, its £1135 per adult and £1005 per child. Please email us for more details and an itinerary.

Your payment covers all your food, transportation and accommodation during the project.  In addition, it goes towards the project cost such as building materials, fuel, vehicle cost, as well as WorkingAbroad Projects backup and placement support.

The airfare to Namibia, travel/medical insurance, visa costs and personal expenses (weekend in Swakopmund are not included within this price.  It is mandatory for you to take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of the project.

Payment Terms

To secure your placement on the project, you will need to complete and submit the application form with your application payment of £195 (included in the total project costs listed above). If for some reason your application is not accepted, we will reimburse this payment fully.

However for those who are accepted, you will be required to pay the remaining balance 1 month before arrival.   Once your place is confirmed, you will receive a pre-departure package with all detailed information on your project, the region, suggested items to bring etc.

Project Dates

We have opportunities to join for 2 weeks up to 12 weeks.  

All projects run from the Monday morning on the starting date, to the Friday afternoon on the finish date. Participants can book a minimum of a two-week slot, or multiple slots, up to three months (six slots) maximum. It is advisable to arrive before the departure date, and give yourself enough time to reach the airport for your flight out.  All accommodation before and after project dates is at your own cost, as is the optional weekend at the end of every 2-week slot.
