Project Costs

The cost to join this project for 2 weeks (13 nights) is £485 per person, and for 4 weeks (26 nights) is £775 per person in the shared 4 person room.

In the single room it is £545 pp (2 weeks) or £875 pp (4 weeks). For the double room, it is £555 pp (2 weeks) or 945 pp (4 weeks).

If you are a couple, it would be £785 (2 weeks) or £1240 (4 weeks), and the cost would be split in two.

You can also book the entire house if you are a group. We also offer single, double and triple rooms in a second big house with private ensuite bathroom – please enquire for these costs. ** for 2025, 14 nights for 2 weeks is £515 and £835 in the shared 4 person room. Please ask for costs of other private/double/triple rooms**

This year, you will stay for 14 days (13 nights), but dates for 2026 will be 15 days (14 nights).  Also please note, the above costs are for 2025 dates – but for 2026, the prices will increase, pls email us for more details.

The project costs cover your accommodation, weekly house cleaning, bed and bath linen, use of large swimming pool, orientation, training and supervision.

What is not included are your flights and travel to and from the sanctuary, visa costs (if required), meals, personal expenses, and your own health and travel insurance. Personal sightseeing during your free time is also not included, but our staff are happy to advise you on the best things to see, transportation options and so on.

Payment Terms

To secure a placement volunteering in an ethical sanctuary with animals in Portugal, please complete and submit the online application form including your application payment of £195 (included in the total project costs listed above). If for some reason, your application is not accepted, we will reimburse this payment fully. However, for those who are accepted, the remaining balance needs to be paid two months before arrival. Once you are confirmed on the project, you will receive pre-departure information with further details on your project, when to arrive, contact details, suggested items to bring, programme information and lots more.

Project Dates

The volunteer programme runs all year round. The minimum stay is 13 nights, which will allow you to integrate fully into the work and needs of the animals. Dates for 2026 will be 15 days (14 nights). Arrivals and departures are fixed and on set days as listed below.
