Hi Vicky – thank you for all the organisation and communications from yourself to set the whole thing up and coordinate with Mike and the team, especially doing it as a bespoke set up to suit our dates…amazing! And for being so prompt with every query I had – brilliant! I will definitely be coming back to you for further working holidays abroad:)

Everything worked brilliantly, apart from the high winds which were out of everyone’s control!! That was a shame, as it did affect things adversely somewhat, but we had the last morning of a superb ocean safari, and the first afternoon we arrived was lovely too…and Mike still managed to shuffle things so that we were occupied with activities /workshops. We were enormously impressed with what was going on at the Marine Hub – Mike was inspirational, and Dylan and Mark also – they were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic at communicating, plus making sure we enjoyed ourselves…and I am certain it has inspired my son Nat further in his curiosity and desire to help save the Planet, particularly with regard to Marine Life/the Oceans.

We joined a research program and spent a day with the team on a sailboat in False Bay. False Bay is one of the most ecologically diverse marine habitats in the world owing to the convergence of cold water from the Atlantic Ocean and warmer water from the Indian, both pushed by currents far stronger than the gulf stream we experience in the Atlantic back home, bringing huge amounts of nutrients from the depths of the oceans. We headed out to gather water samples to test for micro plastic quantities and deploy a baited camera to monitor fish and sea life behaviours. As we sailed out to “Seal Island” (an island in the False Bay that houses over 60k seals), what felt like hundreds of dolphins joined us, surfing the wake off the bow and stern of our sailboat, jumping, spinning and racing through the water and air. We saw a Southern Right Whale and a Brydes Whale. We also saw sunfish and an endless number of seals warming their flippers in the sunshine!  (Excerpt from family blog)
