Family Elephant Conservation Volunteering in Sri Lanka

Project Costs

The cost for one-week (7 day/6 night) on the elephant family volunteer programme in Sri Lanka is:

• Adults (18+): £825 per person
• Children (6-17 years): £685 per person
• Children (3-6 years): £636 per person
• Infants (Under 3): Free

This includes:

• Direct transfer from Airport or Hotel/guest house near the airport to Project Site
• Orientation
• Accommodation in a Family Room in a hotel/or in the field house if preferred
• All meals and refreshments
• Transport in the field
• Tree Hut Night and Dinner
• Field training and activities
• Field supervision and guidance
• Visit to National Park
• Visit to Knuckles Mountains
• Visit to villages, meals, and refreshments
• Community programmes: culinary lessons, games, and sports
• Transfer from Project Site to Airport/Hotel near airport

Airfare, travel/medical insurance, and personal expenses are not included in the cost. You must take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of the project.

Payment Terms & How to Apply

To book your family volunteer programme at our Elephant Conservation Family Volunteer programme in Sri Lanka, one adult will need to fill out the application form on behalf of the whole family under APPLY NOW – please provide full names and DOBs for the other family members in the motivation letter section.  You will be directed to our Sri Lanka Elephant Conservation programme application form – so please select your family dates and proceed.

The payment is split into a downpayment which secures your family booking and the balance payment which is due 2 months before arrival.  We are also happy to arrange payment plans if need be – please enquire.

Downpayment to secure your family booking:
The downpayment to book your family depends on adult/child numbers –  please email here victoria.mcneil@workingabroad.com and we can confirm downpayment for different family configurations and send you the secure payment link to secure your family booking.

If for some reason, your family application is not accepted/or if we are fully booked, we would reimburse your application payment fully. Once your family place is confirmed on the programme, you will receive further detailed information and suggested items to bring, transfers, info on the elephant programme and and so on.

Project Dates

Your family can join for one week all year round, on any Monday.

Please email us with any questions regarding dates. We are very flexible but would suggest a Sunday night arrival (at the latest), and staying over in a hotel near the airport. We can then collect you on Monday morning around 8-9 AM and transfer to the project site (takes 5-7 hours).

If your preferred Monday is not listed below, that is not a problem, you can start then and join the one week programme from that date (Monday-Sunday, 6 nights/7 days).
