Project Costs

The cost for the 6 night/7 day family volunteering programme (staying in the private lakeside bungalow with shared bathroom) is £735 per adult, £635 per child 11-17 yrs old.

The cost to join for the 2-day/1 night programme (staying in the lakeside bungalow) is £355 per adult, £255 per child 11-17 yrs old, £175 per child 5-10 yrs old and for the 3-day/2 night programme (staying in the lakeside bungalow) it is £420 per adult, £320 per child 11-17 yrs old, £210 per child 5-10 yrs old.  All children aged 0-4 yrs old go free!

For families, we offer the forest house for more privacy and for something more luxurious, we have a deluxe lodge upgrade available too.

Your payment covers all your food, drinking water and accommodation during the project, pick up and drop off in Luang Prabang, project training and guiding.  Your airfare to and from Laos, tourist visa, travel/medical insurance and personal expenses are not included within this price. It is mandatory for families to take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of the project.

Payment Terms & How to Apply

To book your Laos Elephant Family volunteer programme, one adult will need to fill out the application form on behalf of the whole family under APPLY NOW – please provide full names and DOBs for the other family members in the motivation letter section.  You will be directed to our Laos Elephant programme application form – so please select your family dates and proceed.

The payment is split into a downpayment which secures your family booking and the balance payment which is due 2 months before arrival.  We are also happy to arrange payment plans if need be – please enquire.

Downpayment to secure your family booking:
The downpayment to book your family depends on adult/child numbers –  please email here victoria.mcneil@workingabroad.com and we can confirm downpayment for different family configurations and send you the secure payment link to secure your family booking.

If for some reason, your family application is not accepted/or if we are fully booked, we would reimburse your application payment fully. Once your family place is confirmed on the programme, you will receive further detailed information and suggested items to bring, info on the elephant programme, how to get there and so on.

Project Dates

Please note that the 6 night/7 day programme starts on the first or third Monday of each month (April to Sept and the first Monday of each month Oct to March), but we need a min. of 4 people to run the project, so pls enquire before booking. Whereas for the 2 and 3 day programmes, we have total flexibility throughout the month and you can start on any day. Please email us if you have any questions about dates or durations.  The dates below are an indication, but we can arrange any date for the shorter programmes!
