Family Volunteering in Costa Rica at Playa Tortuga

Project Costs

The cost for a one-week family programme is £470 per adult and £370 per child. This includes accommodation, three meals a day (volunteers and staff cook together), non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, equipment (for patrols), a guide during volunteering, backup and support.

Airfare and transportation to the project, lodging in San Jose, travel/medical insurance, and personal expenses are not included in the cost. You must take out travel and medical insurance for the duration of the project.

Payment Terms & How to Apply

To book your family volunteer programme at Playa Tortuga, one adult will need to fill out the application form on behalf of the whole family under APPLY NOW – please provide full names and DOBs for the other family members in the motivation letter section.  You will be directed to our Playa Tortuga Conservation programme application form – so please select your family dates and proceed.

The payment is split into a downpayment which secures your family booking and the balance payment which is due 1 month before arrival.  We are also happy to arrange payment plans if need be – please enquire.

Downpayment to secure your family booking:
The downpayment to book your family depends on adult/child numbers –  please email here victoria.mcneil@workingabroad.com and we can confirm downpayment for different family configurations and send you the secure payment link to secure your family booking.

If for some reason, your family application is not accepted/or if we are fully booked, we would reimburse your application payment fully. Once your family place is confirmed on the programme, you will receive further detailed information and suggested items to bring, transfers, info on Playa Tortuga and things to do in free time and so on.

Project Dates

Your family can join for one week up to 12 weeks on any of the dates listed on our website. Please email us with any questions regarding dates, durations, costs, etc., as we are very flexible with start/end dates if you want to arrive outside the listed dates (we do not allow Sunday arrivals). Where we show availability, we may only have single rooms free on some busy dates (July/Aug), but please do enquire as we can also offer families single rooms side by side.  For questions, please email: Victoria.McNeil@workingabroad.com
